Anurag Kashyap confirms 'Udta Punjab is not banned'

Just a couple of days ago a news went viral that Anurag Kashyap's upcoming film 'Udta Punjab' will be banned as it faced some issues with the Censor Board of Film Certification(CBFC).

Well the news came as a shock to all Shahid Kapoor fans but hold on.. Here comes another news and this will definitely make you happy. The movie will not be banned. Yes, you heard it right. Anurag Kashyap confirmed the news on his twitter handle in a series of tweets.

His tweets read, "For the record ,"Udta Punjab" is not banned. The examining committe has deferred the decision to Revising and due process is on." He added, "And due process takes it own time so please abstain for spreading a BAN rumour. There is nothing to speak on the subject as of now." After which he also posted, "A film is banned only when examining, revising and FCAT all three refuse certificate. And then you fight it out in Supreme Court."

Until now the film is critically acclaimed for the use of abusive language and portrayal of Punjabis in a bad light.

'Udta PunjaB' stars Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh in the lead roles. Directed by Abhishek Chaubey and produced by Anurag Kashyap, the film releases on June 17, 2016.
