Chaz Bono: Cher fears for my health

28th September 2011

Chaz Bono says mother Cher was "stressed to say the least" following his knee injury on Dancing with the Stars.

The 42-year-old contestant has been struggling with the sore joint as a result of the strenuous rehearsals on the hit dance show.

Despite his injury, Chaz's place on the show is safe after he got through the eliminations this week. He is now looking forward to going from strength to strength with his routines with the help of his supportive pop icon mother.

"Cher was stressed last night to say the least. She called me up and she's sending her doctors to help, and she's just trying to be as supportive as possible," he said.

Chaz is looking forward to taking some pressure off his knee while training for his next Latin American dance. He and partner Lacey Schwimmer are taking to the floor to perform a sensual rumba in the next show, which he is thrilled about.

"We have a very simple style of dance this week. We have the rumba, so it's slow. It's pretty easy, and we are going to try and work around it as much as we can. I'll be OK. It's taken a pounding," he explained in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Lacey is also on the case. "I'm having my physical therapist drive in from Temecula on Thursday to check him out, give him some treatment," she said.

Chaz survived his second elimination of the show. He and Lacey were joined in the bottom three by Elisabetta Canalis and her partner Val Chemerkovskiy, and David Arquette and Kym Johnson.

Elisabetta was the second celebrity to go home.

Chaz who completed his gender transition from female to male in 2010 - admitted he was nervous about facing the prospect of going home in the second week after overcoming the controversy surrounding him being on the show.

"I didn't know but I thought it was a definite possibility," he said, before Lacey added: "We had the lowest scores of the night and you never know because of the controversy of him being on the show who is actually voting for him and how much they're voting, it's huge."

Elisabetta was gracious in defeat. The stunning Italian model thanked those who voted for her and partner Val and gushed about the experience.

"For me, it was a gift every day staying here, really. It was a great adventure," she said, after learning her fate.

Her professional dance partner felt a little more responsible for the elimination. The star apologised to his partner.

"I'm sorry. I wish I did better for you," he told Elisabetta. "But I'm very lucky to be here, and I really appreciate the opportunity."

Meanwhile Kristin Cavallari has written a blog about her second week in the show. The

star and her partner Mark Ballas ended up in tied second place with J.R. Martinez and dancer Karina Smirnoff with both teams scoring 22 out of 30.

Kristen was thrilled to impress with her quickstep.

"We survived the quickstep!!! Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me and Mark last night!" she wrote.

"One of my favourite things about the night has to be dressing up as Marilyn Monroe. She's such an icon and I was honoured to have the chance to play her for a night. The second we heard our song, Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend, we knew I had to channel my inner Marilyn sic !".
