Coldplay keen to perfect hand-clap

26th November 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Coldplay are determined to perfect the hand-clap on their new album.

The British rock band comprises of lead vocalist Chris Martin, lead guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman and Will Champion on drums.

Coldplay have had a hugely successful musical career, and their fifth studio album is expected to show an edgier side to them, with the band seeking inspiration from more obscure sources. The record is yet to be named and is due out next year, with Chris expecting it to surprise many people.

It sounds group-y. All the bits that are normally turned down in the mix are all up. Its guitar-y. Jonny is coming out of his cocoon. Were just trying some risky things, he told Q magazine.

Well, we want to try and perfect the handclap. Which is very hard to do. That doesnt sound very futuristic, does it? And things like removing pianos and letting the song become something else it wasnt when we started.

Coldplay are keeping the album details a closely guarded secret, but Chris has revealed a few juicy morsels. He explained its likely a duet will be featured, and has even let slip one track name.

Im trying to make sure there are three songs that start with the same letter. On the last album, it was L. It might be U this time. One of them is Up With The Birds, he explained. It might be a duet, but we dont know who with yet. The other two might change, depending on whether Umbro go out of business. (C) Cover Media
