(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Colin Firth says shooting Mamma Mia! and Nanny McPhee is the happiest hes ever been on set.

The star was praised for his role in 2009s A Single Man, for which he received a best actor Oscar nomination, and is expected to achieve another nod this year thanks to his new offering The Kings Speech. Both movies were serious and dramatic, and while Colin loves appearing in such films he also enjoys taking parts in light-hearted romps.

The actor particularly liked singing in 2008 musical film Mamma Mia! and treasures his time making 2005s Nanny McPhee as being on set was so much fun. Mama Mia! And Nanny McPhee were two of the happiest shooting experiences of my life because nobody was being precious and there was only one aim in mind with Nanny McPhee it was to delight children, that was all we were trying to do, he explained. There is something underdeveloped in me fundamentally, I never quite got past the age of nine so that will show in my work eventually.

The Kings Speech tells the story of Britains King George VIs struggle to overcome a speech impediment as the country is on the cusp of World War II. Colin plays the royal, and its a part he still cant believe he won. He doesnt see himself as a particularly strong actor, and was terrified about what people would make of his attempts to portray a stammer.

Im very, very lucky to be employed in this business at all, which is notoriously difficult to even get a job. I was not the most talented person in my class at drama school by any stretch, I really wasnt, he told British TV show Lorraine.

Theres an awful lot of people who know people who were connected to this story. Our generation still does overlap with that period in history. There was the issue of the authenticity of the stammer itself, I think that was more in my mind than what living relatives would say about the accuracy. (C) Cover Media
