Recently, Veena Malik was trending on twitter for all the wrong reasons. Tweets from her previous account spitted fire against India. She was trending on the micro-blogging site for a tweet, which read, "India sucks.....!!!". The tweet ignited an outrage in India and got her much flak.
Stunned by the whole controversy, Veena talked to press claiming that her account was being misused. She blamed her former boyfriend/manager Prashant Singh for hacking her Twitter account and posting anti-India tweets.
"My Twitter account was hacked in December, last year, by my digital manager from India, Prashant, who is part of a Mumbai-based web service company. I had a three-year contract with his company but after two years I chose to discontinue the association. The company continued to keep a track of my account, but after I got married Prashant started blackmailing me. He started demanding money and said that he would not give me my account details otherwise," said Veena who currently resides in Dubai.
Incidentally, Prashant has also tweeted, "I can make ppl trend".
Veena also claimed that she would never do this as she has a lot of respect for India and Indians.
"India has given me a career and a lot of respect. I have been an ambassador of sorts between India and Pakistan. Obviously, I love my country more, but I have immense respect for India. I have always been transparent and this is not what I would expect in return," she added.
She has now filed a legal notice against Prashant. However, after being troubled by the whole controversy Veena approached Indian filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt to help her control the situation.
"I got a call from her husband, Asad Bashir Khan Khattak, and he pleaded with me to help him clarify this controversy. He said, and this is clearly according to him, that this particular twitter account from which this comment was tweeted, was being misused by her ex-boyfriend/secretary," said Mahesh Bhatt who clarified the issue.
He also made his take on the issue very clear to avoid any controversies further.
"Would again like to clarify that I have never had nothing to do, no role to play in Veena's coming to India, or anything else," Bhatt added.
