Courteney Cox considers David Arquette to be her "very best friend."

Courteney and David separated in October 2010 after 11 years of marriage.

David battled depression and drink following the split and entered rehab in January 2011. He is currently celebrating one full year in sobriety.

Although Courteney and David are no longer a couple, the actress feels privileged to have him in her life.

"He's my favourite person in the world," Courteney told People magazine. "He's my best friend. No matter what happens in our future, he's my very best friend."

Courtney and David have a close relationship. They run production company Coquette Productions together and are currently developing projects.

"We sold one show, Ten Year, about a couple who separated after 10 years of marriage," Courteney explained. "It's not really about David and me, but it's something we related to and we thought we should tell a story about people who could actually get along after being separated. It's telling a different version."

Courteney is elated about David's health at the moment. She wants the best for him.

"[We went out to celebrate] David's one year of sobriety," Courteney said. "He's great. Good for him."

Courteney and David have seven-year-old daughter Coco together.

David is currently dating reporter Christina McLarty.
