(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Dave Grohl thinks the problem with modern day music is there are too many short people in bands.

The American star made his name in Nirvana and has gone on to achieve worldwide success with his group Foo Fighters. Their latest release Wasting Light is due out next month and they think it will fill a void for proper rock music in the current charts.

Dave doesnt think there are enough big bands for young people to look to at the moment both in terms of sales and of their actual stature.

I also noticed that bands are short now. What the f**k happened? Theyre little people. I dont know if its genetics or evolution I just remember dudes in bands being big. When I was in Queens of the Stone Age with Josh [Homme], Nick [Oliveri] and Mark Lanegan, it was like that movie The Warriors. When the four of us walked backstage, the piano player stopped playing. Nobody f**ked with those dudes. They were big men.

Josh is renowned for his height, and is believed to measure about 6ft. 5ins.

Dave has put a lot of thought into why the music industry has changed since he started out. The 42-year-old thinks it boils down to people now viewing music as a viable career, which didnt used to be the case.

Kids got too smart and good. Theres part of me that feels like rock musicians arent as crafty and criminal as they used to be. My generation growing up in the 80s were stoners, dropouts and petty thieves. We played music on the weekends to forget about the sh**ty jobs we had to work, he said. No, you just did it for kicks.

Dave is constantly referred to as the nicest man in rock a label hes happy with. He knows it is a one-dimensional idea but that doesnt bother him as the star knows how hard he works. He also understands in some respects the notion is true, as he is friendly with everyone and does all he can to avoid bad feeling.

I dont like to get too emotional. And I dont like conflict; I just dont, he said. I like it when people are f**king happy. I dont like being in fights.

The singer is driven by responsibility to his fans and his family. He has two kids with his wife and wants to do all he can to make them happy and secure, even though he sometimes wishes his life wasnt so busy.

He seems to have things planned for every second of the day, and his schedule is so hectic Dave sometimes worries about how it will affect him.

I dont even know the last time I sat down in a restaurant and had lunch. It just doesnt happen, he said.

Could I just stop? I dont know if I can. I want to be everything to my family and everything to this band. But I dont know if my body can handle what Im asking it to do. There are times I think, This is going to kill me. Im going to f**king kill me. (C) Cover Media
