28th December 2011

After penning and singing 'why this kolaveri di' which has become a rage all over India, Dhanush became an overnight star. But he has not let his new found fame take charge over him. He has taken over the campaign of promoting vegetarianism in the country by joining hands with PETA.

For, the National Award winning actor, who is the son- in- law of superstar Rajinikanth, is one of the celebrities across the country who has taken early leads in a vegetarian celebrity contest.

Organised by "People for Ethical Treatment for Animals", popularly known as PETA, celebrity winners of the contest would be chosen on the number of votes each receives. They would be announced in January.

Others in the list include Bollywood's Big B Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Mallika Sherawat, Sonu Sood, Hema Malini and Ayesha Takia.

'From Bollywood to Hollywood, the world's kindest and most gorgeous celebrities are adopting a healthy, humane vegetarian diet', PETA India Chief Functionary Poorva Joshipura said in a statement.
