January 4, 2011 (Sampurn Wire): The Balaji Telefilms production Dream Sequence with Vishal Bharadwaj at its helm has been put on hold for an indefinite period of time. According to reports in the media, everybody associated with the project at its initial stage has gradually walked out of Dream Sequence, citing different reasons. While Saif Ali Khan had second thoughts about committing to Dream Sequence not once but twice, Deepika Padukone, the chosen leading lady also refused to be part of the film after first confirming that she will!
Left without his leading stars, director Vishal Bharadwaj also thought it better to shift attention and time on the onscreen adaptation of the Chetan Bhagat novel 'Two States' which will reportedly feature Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. Eventually it was Ekta Kapoor who started having second thoughts about investing in a film which did not look commercially viable to her. It is said that Balaji Telefilms does not like to experiment with the content of the films that the company produces, and Dream Sequence follows the storyline of the 2010 Hollywood hit Inception, a subject which Ekta Kapoor thought was unappealing to the Indian audience.
Therefore Dream Sequence is presently left high and dry and no one among the people previously attached to the Bollywood project has any idea as to when the film will take off! While Vishal Bharadwaj is now playing the blame game with Saif Ali Khan, everyone has moved forward with a different project in hand.
