FEFSI again on warpath

4th April 2012

'Irked with the attitude' of Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC), the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) has called for a strike, which is set to take a toll on the shootings of many upcoming Tamil films.

According to the office bearers of FEFSI, who convened an emergency meeting in Chennai on Tuesday, representatives of the Producers Council did not attend a meeting convened earlier in the day, in the presence of Labour Department officials.

'A section of producers are not co-operating to solve the wage revision issue amicably. So we are forced to announce a strike,' said a member of the FEFSI, adding that their reasonable demand for fair wages was not met.

Recently, the TFPC announced that it would start a new workers association. According to the Producers Council, the FEFSI was acting in an adamant manner and hence it would float a new organisation for the workers.
