(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jane Lynch has revealed her Glee character becomes dangerously depressed in a new episode of the show.

The 50-year-old actress has won a host of awards for her portrayal of scheming cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester in the popular American television series. Jane enjoys playing the ruthless character - who makes it her mission to destroy the high school musical club and has now confessed Sue will receive help from the most unlikely of places. Sue will begin feeling very unhappy after her cheerleading squads, the Cheerios, suffer a loss and only the students in the glee club can boost her flagging spirits.

"She becomes very, very depressed, and she becomes kind of dangerously depressed, where she's more violent than usual, she told People. I'm actually in the glee club for a while. They find that through raising her voice in song, it kind of lifts her and she gets out of her depression."

Jane went on to reveal Sue will attempt to launch one of her cheerleaders, Brittany Pierce played by Heather Morris from a human cannon and ask other girls to jump through fire for a daredevil routine. However, Principal Figgins bans the cheerleaders from performing such dangerous stunts and this sends Sue into a violent rage.

"We're kind of doing an episode of Glee that is on steroids. Sue Sylvester is a little bored with her routine even though she has kids riding around on BMX bikes and jumping through fire in this one routine to Katy Perry's California Gurls, she explained. "It was definitely Sue Sylvester on the warpath."

Glee has proved a worldwide hit since hitting the small screen in 2009. The comedy has picked up a string of awards and has attracted high-profile guest stars including Britney Spears, Gwyneth Paltrow and Olivia Newton John. (C) Cover Media
