(Cover) - EN Movies - Greta Gerwig says Dame Helen Mirren is "too humble" to share her acting expertise.
The American actress and filmmaker first came to prominence through her association with the mumblecore film movement, which concentrate on low budget, improvised movies.
Greta made her mainstream debut in 2010 film Greenberg opposite Ben Stiller and has since gone on to star in this year's comedy remake Arthur alongside Dame Helen Mirren and Russell Brand.
Greta was in awe of Oscar-winning actress Helen but admits she was too shy to ask for her constant advice on set.
"In a way she's too humble to take on protgs. So you can want to throw yourself at her feet and say, Teach me everything' but she's not in that market. She's wonderful to be around and has such a strong sense of self," she explained in an interview with Wonderland magazine.
The 27-year-old star says it took a while to sink in that she was co-starring with Hollywood's finest. Greta admires Helen's ability to assert herself whilst still remaining down to earth and humble.
"You really have to make yourself heard on a movie set and part of Arthur was doing that. I had to tell myself to stop being in awe of the fact that you're here you are in awe of these people but right now you're working with them," she explained. "Helen doesn't allow herself to be pushed around but she does it so gently." (C) Cover Media
