Vijay's fans are pinning their expectations upon the actor's upcoming release 'Velayudham', while Thala fans are excited about 'Mankatha'. Earlier it was decided that 'Velayudham' would be released for Diwali as Vijay has given a long call sheet of 6 months for the film. However, with Shankar approaching him for the film, apparently changes were made. Now the latest buzz is that both the films – 'Mankatha' and 'Velayudham' might be released in the same week or at an interval of one or two weeks….

'Velayudham' is directed by Jeyam Raja and is produced by Aascar Ravichandran, with Genelia D' Souza and Hansika Motwani starring opposite Vijay in female lead roles. Vijay Anthony has scored the music for the film and the audio is likely to be launched by the end of this month. According to the producer's plans, they are likely to release the film on Vijay's birthday, which falls on June 22nd.
