Jason Segel wore a Superman cape under his clothes and played with puppets when he was younger.

The 32-year-old comic star struggled to fit in as a child. Jason grew up in a wealthy area of Los Angeles and despite his towering stature he was teased by his peers.

"I was 6ft-something from the age of 12 and very lanky, and got picked on relentlessly," he told British newspaper The Times. "And I wore a Superman cape under my clothes. And I played with puppets."

Despite being unpopular when he was growing up, Jason is now one of the best loved stars in Hollywood having starred in movies such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Bad Teacher.

He has also proved a hit with the ladies and is currently dating actress Michelle Williams.

While Jason is happy to talk about his younger years and his career, he is less willing to share details of his blossoming romance.

"People talking about me when I'm naked on screen is one thing," he explained. "But when you start talking about your relationships in public you open yourself up to people making all sorts of judgments about things that are none of their f**king business."

As well as enjoying success on the big screen, Jason also stars in the hit US TV show How I Met Your Mother. He is currently at a crossroads in his career and feels ready for a new challenge.

"I'm actually at a big life-turning point in general," he explained. "I've hit my thirties, the TV show that I've been doing for eight years is coming to its natural end and I'm feeling much more like, OK. It's now time for phase three.'"

Along with considering his career future, Jason has also put his partying days behind him. It has been reported the star is serious about settling down with Michelle and he has vowed to stick to his no-alcohol rule.

"I f**king love to drink, but I'm not really capable of moderating," he added. "I haven't sworn off it for ever. But, then, I hope I don't drink again."
