(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jay-Z and Kanye West took over an entire floor of a New York hotel to work on their album this week.

The hip-hop stars have been collaborating on Watch the Throne, which is due out this summer, for months. They are both perfectionists and wouldnt dream of putting out material which was substandard, so are taking time to ensure the songs are their best yet.

The duo reportedly decided to team up at the exclusive Mercer Hotel this week, but a room each just wasnt enough for the rappers.

They took over at least one whole floor and moved in their equipment, which may have annoyed some of the guests, a source told New York Post.

Last year, Jay-Z said collaborating with Kanye was like working with family because they are so close. He was already thrilled with what they had come up with in November, adding he believes he deserves some of the credit for Kanyes success.

Because Kanye, I've seen him really he's like a brother to me I've seen him from the beginning to where he is now, Jay-Z said.

And to see him as a producer and to see how he's growing as a producer and as an artist, for me, on another level, it's enjoyable. I'm watching the guy that I pretty much mentored become his own guy, with his own opinion. It's fantastic.

Swizz Beatz is a little bit involved with the project, and has said what hes heard has blown his mind. (C) Cover Media
