(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jean-Claude Van Damme reportedly drove his car into a canal after partying at a disco.

The action hero had been enjoying a night of dancing at a venue in Willebroek, Belgium. Upon leaving the unnamed establishment he was in a hurry to get home, and accidentally put his car into first gear rather than reverse.

The mistake caused the vehicle to plummet into the water, although the hulking star escaped unscathed.

Keen to show off his muscles, the 50-year-old actor then attempted to pull the car out of the canal on his own. His efforts were ineffective, so he eventually asked two security staff at the nightspot to help him.

"He'd had a drink, but wasn't drunk," a spokesman for the disco told British newspaper The Sun.

The incident apparently affected Jean-Claude's mood.

Once he'd salvaged his car, he apparently accused fellow party-goers of stealing from him. He insisted people had tried to take his mobile phone and wallet.

The star eventually disappeared into the night in the sodden vehicle.

Last year, the star nicknamed the Muscles from Brussels furiously denied he'd suffered a heart attack while on the set of a movie in New Orleans. He insisted he was "100 per cent healthy" and that the reports were false. (C) Cover Media
