Joel Madden: Reality TV is like substance abuse

10th October 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Joel Madden claims reality television is just as bad for his brain as drugs.

The Good Charlotte rocker is unhappy with his wife Nicole Richie's fascination with certain TV shows. He has taken to his Twitter account to express his frustration, insisting some programmes are as damaging to his mental health as drugs.

"I dunno whats worse for my brain drugs or reality tv. I don't want 2 do either. But My wife makes me watch which makes me want 2 do drugs," Joel wrote on Sunday. "at this point I can't tell but I need painkillers (sic)."

One of his friends tried to reassure the singer that Nicole wouldn't be watching a show for more than an hour.

However, Joel, 32, was quick to explain that his superstar wife was planning to spend the whole evening in front of the TV. Nicole obviously had a lot of shows to catch up on after she and Joel took their two children to the UK for a Disney event last week.

"oh no she TiVo that sh*t and watches all night. I'm Finna bounce and go see a movie lol (sic)," he replied.

His pal then recommended Joel should go and watch new thriller Contagion, starring Matt Damon and Kate Winslet. (C) Cover Media
