22nd March 2012

The Kerala government has selected Jyothirmayi as the brand ambassador for the ‘Thantedam Gender Fest,’ a 10-day long event organised by the Department of Social Welfare in association with various women's organisations.

Expressing happiness, the Mollywood actress, who is popular in Kollywood with films like Thalainagaram, Vedigundu Murugesan and Naan Avan Illai, says, 'I want to make a difference by standing up for women’s rights. Thantedam is a right opportunity for that.'

She adds: 'Though women can excel in any field, they have to work harder than men to make an impact. And I am sure they can touch the sky if they work hard, putting aside all hurdles. I will support for the cause in all possible ways.

Jyothirmayi is known for speaking her mind boldly on various issues. She shared the stage with actress Bhavana and other dignitaries, including Social Welfare Department Director M S Jaya, at the inaugural of the festival recently.
