(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Kiefer Sutherland says he was terrified when asked to speak German.

The 43-year-old actor is most famous for his role in dramatic American television series 24, where he played counter terrorist agent Jack Bauer. Kiefer starred as the action man for nine years and in the process gained a cult following among many of the shows supporters worldwide. Speaking about the final season of the series, the star confirmed he was pushed further than ever before, even having to learn German for particular scenes.

Kiefer admitted he was given a helping hand by a German associate with no acting experience.

I was concerned about the fact I had to speak a bit of German in the new season. I have a German friend who basically acted it out for me. So in that scene Im actually imitating a guy whos a musical engineer and has never acted. I was terrified, but I think it worked out OK, he sheepishly added to Empire magazine. (C) Cover Media
