September 8, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): For all the burglars out there, if you really need to snatch someone's purse, make sure you wear gloves. Recent news suggest that James Jimenez, the guy who was convicted for stealing Kirsten Dunst's purse has been sentenced to four years in state prison. All the evidence, especially fingerprints from the recovered purse, was pointing towards Jimenez as he did not wear any gloves.
The purse snatcher was convicted by a jury in June 2007, although he kept denying the charges, his peers disagreed with him. The burglar had lifted the $2000 Balenciaga bag from Kirsten's Soho Grand Suit as well as her costar Simon Pegg's cell phone.
The 36-year old burglar was extremely lucky as he could have easily received an 8-years stay in the state correctional facility, but he managed to get away with just 4 years. After he was sentenced to 4 years in prison he told the judge that he still does not understand why he is being charged for a crime he did not commit. Replying to Jimenez's comment Judge Jill Konviser said that she understood why Jimenez was being charged with the sentence because all the evidence pointed in his direction. The sentence has been made effective immediately, so we can bid adieu to Jimenez till 2014.
