The Madras High Court's Madurai Bench on Wednesday dismissed an anticipatory bail application of actress and DMK member Kushboo in a case relating to alleged violations of rules during the April 13 Assembly elections campaigning.

Kushboo, one of the star campaigners for the then ruling party DMK, has been accused of campaigning at Andipatti without permission from police and election officials and causing hindrance to public.

Kushboo submitted, she belonged to a popular political party and was playing an important role as a campaigner for it. She contended that the case registered against her was false and she was in no way connected to the case. Justice R Mala dismissed the plea

However, the court granted anticipatory bail to Kushboo in another case related to campaigning during Assembly elections. The case was registered against her for allegedly violating the model code of conduct while campaigning in Panchettypatti, Theni district.
