5th March 2015

Producer-director and now turning an actor, Mahesh Bhatt after his acting debut as a monk, 'The Lama' in 'Siddhartha', a modern take on the life of Gautam Buddha, says he will never act again.

Bhatt said he faced the camera only for his love for the debutant director, Mukund Mishra. He states on Mukund Mishra, "He is a younger version of me in many ways."

Bhatt encouraged Mukund for his approach with a bold story. The 66 year old filmmaker, on failing to travel to Manali, the makers built a monastery duplicating the staue of Golden Buddha in Mumbai. The story aligns of a young man who shuns his city and sets out on a path of celebate life and self-discovery.

"My character Nidhi who is a practicing Buddhist solves Siddhartha's problems and a love story blossoms between him and me," says Shazahn Padamsee who plays Bhatt's daughter in the film.

Shazahn says that the filmmaker reminded her of own father, Alyque Padamsee. And one of his pearls of wisdom was "The quest of permanence is the bedrock of man's suffering and we have to come to terms with the fact that everything in life is in a state of flux."
