15th December 2010

December 15, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Matt Damon and Jeff Bridges latest offering True Grit failed to get the favors that it was looking for from the Golden Globe as it didnt get a single nomination. However, when the cast walked the red carpet at the New York premiere the lack of nominations was the last thing they had in their mind.

Matt and Jeff Bridges along with Hailee Steinfeld a 14year old newcomer reprised the roles made famous by John Wayne in the 1969 film True Grit. As the one-eye patched Marshall Reuben Rooster Cogburn helped Wayne to receive an Academy award and this time it is Bridges who has taken up the challenge. Matt plays the role of LaBoeuf a Texas Ranger who too undertakes the journey along with Cogburn and the young girl Mattie Ross played by Steinfeld.

It was actually young Steinfeld who showed immense grit to stand her ground while sharing the screen space with actors like Damon and Bridges. Even though remade film by the Coen brothers failed to get nod from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the teenager received oodles of praises from the critics. The film is also expected to land few Academy Award nominations too.

Apart from the cast of the film True Grit the red carpet premiere was attended by stars like Gretchen Mol, she showed off her baby bump proudly, the host of Top Chef series Padma Lakshmi was also present along with Matts wife Lucia.
