Matthew McConaughey: Fatherhood affects my DNA

25th March 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Matthew McConaughey says he is using a different part of his DNA since becoming a father.

The actor has two-year-old son Levi and 14-month-old daughter Vida with his partner Camila Alves. He loves being a father, but admits balancing his career and home life can be exhausting. Matthew insists that parenthood is a lot more difficult than he ever thought, but still a rewarding experience.

"I think you just slip into a different part of your DNA but that tiredness never goes away," he is quoted as saying.

Matthew and Camila live in a mansion in Malibu, California, and are renowned for their outdoor lifestyle. The family regularly embark on action-packed road trips into the wild and Matthew loves to hunt. He believes his kids have inherited his boundless energy levels and they keep him on toes at all times of the day.

Then you do get some time as a couple over a weekend or something and it's like, 'Jeez, it's so quiet!' Or you wake up at seven and realise you can actually sleep! Matthew laughed. But having kids is a 24-hour thing. If there is a problem you have always got to handle it no matter what. And kids are quick!" (C) Cover Media
