The 40-year-old moviemaker is currently promoting the latest instalment of the comic book franchise, X-Men: First Class, which is due for international release next month.

The British film producer-and-director has revealed his favourite character from the ensemble is Magneto. Matthew says he made sure Michael Fassbender, who portrays the mutant in the film, knew just how important it was to portray the character in an impressive light.

"Favourite as in character wise? Well for me, it's obvious, Magneto," he revealed in an interview with Obsessed With Film "I sat down with Michael and said, Look I've always wanted to do a Bond movie, imagine you're Bond but you don't have to have gadgets; you know Bond would have to use his watch and stuff, and you can do sh*t that other people can't, the ultimate assassin in a world that no-one knows about.'"

Matthew has confessed he has always had a soft spot for the comic book character who has the ability to generate and control magnetism. The film maker says despite Magneto not having the most exceptional power, he admires him as a core character to the X-Men franchise.

"I've always loved Magneto. It's weird because his power's bloody odd if you think about it. It's not that great a power but there's something about Magneto I've always loved," he added. (C) Cover Media
