Between you and me...

Vijay Antony, a popular music composer, could have made his acting debut with a regular film which has songs, fights, romance and comedy scenes at regular intervals.

Instead, he has chosen to thread a different path, in association with debutant director Jeeva Shankar. As a result, 'Naan' turns out to be a thriller, which is impressive in most parts.

The actor in Vijay Antony has come out in full form in the very first attempt itself, for it's his performance which is one of the highlights of the movie.

Jeeva Shankar has developed an interesting script. The first half is air-tight and makes one glued to the seat. The second half too, despite having lag at some places, keeps the audience engaged, one has to say.

Karthik (Vijay Antony) spends his childhood in reformatory school, as he is charged with murdering his mother. The youngster has big ambitions in life and he studies well.

One day, the bus in which he travels meets with a mishap and the man who travels next to Karthik dies. Karthik makes use of the situation, walks with his co-passenger's certificates, and joins a medical college.

Meanwhile, a series of murders takes place. The rest is all about whether Karthik is successful in accomplishing his ambitions.

Vijay Antony is certainly not like any fresher, for his performance is good. Rupa Manjari, Anuya and Vibha are there as actresses, but there is nothing much to talk about them.

Besides playing the lead role, Vijay Antony has taken care of music composing and production too. His background score adds pep to the proceedings, while his songs are interesting, especially the 'Makayala...' number.

On the whole, 'Naan' is a different attempt. The film can be thoroughly enjoyed if one goes without big expectations. Vijay Antony and Jeeva Shankar have passed out (if not in flying colours) in 'Naan'.
