Producer council elections in August

24th June 2011
The long overdue Karnataka Film Producers Association election is now slated for the 7th of August. KCN Chandrashekhar, facing legal charges, was holding the position against many of his own members. He has resigned recently and made way for the election to the President's post.

The election was announced in May and cine actor Jaggesh's name was proposed. Jaggesh, however is nowhere listed as producer. That he has produced the films in his wife's name, is a fact. So, possibilities of Jaggesh standing for election came to a halt.

A few months back, another prominent producer who is also councilor in the Bangalore City Corporation, Muniratna would be contesting the elections but elections were postponed as there were some problems in the maintenance of the accounts. Munirathna is facing charges from the Bangalore City corporation, as one of his contract workers killed an innocent girl.

A 15th July deadline has been issued for the members to clear their dues. Any producer who has registered for membership after March, is not eligible to contest in the election or have voting rights.
