Ashoke Kumar, son of popular producer Swaminathan (of Lakshmi Movie Makers), has taken the mega phone to direct a short film titled 'Thuvandha Yuddham'.
Those who watched the 14-minute short were all praise for the young filmmaker for handling the sensitive script in a mature yet effective manner.
Set in the backdrop of fishing harbours in north Chennai, the movie beautifully throws light on the lives of fishermen, their feelings and the troubles they undergo.
Says Ashoke Kumar, 'Life in the sea is not easy as we imagine. Fishermen have to undergo a lot of hardship to earn for their livelihood. This prompted me to make Thuvandha Yuddham.'
He adds: 'I just wanted to register the facts without being judgmental. Some of the biggies from film industry like Bhagyaraj, Bharathraja, Prabhu Solomon, Seeman and Vijay appreciated my efforts and said that I had chosen a daring script for my debut.'
