Radcliffe: I had to wait to date girlfriend

20th August 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Daniel Radcliffe had to wait to date his girlfriend until Harry Potter filming was complete.

The British actor was photographed holding hands in New York with girlfriend Rosanne Coker this week. The pair first met when she was a production assistant on 2009 movie Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Although they were immediately besotted with each other, Rosanne thought it would be inappropriate to pursue anything other than a professional relationship at the time.

"Dan really fell for Rosie in a big way. He was doing all the chasing and Rosie made him sweat," a source told the Mirror. "She was always attracted to him but wanted to keep their on-set relationship as strictly business much to Dan's dismay. But he agreed and realised that Rosie was worth holding out for."

Now that the Harry Potter series has completed, the couple, who are both aged 22, are officially an item. Daniel's wealth and fame has no bearing on their relationship. Rosanne's father believes mutual respect for one another is what keeps them together.

"I think the way they work is that Rosie treats him like a normal person," explained Rosie's father Malcolm Coker. "She isn't daunted or fazed by his fame. In fact, I think he has struck lucky, because she treats him like such a normal person."

Daniel is not affected by his own fame too much either. According to Malcolm, Daniel is quite a down-to-earth young man.

"A lot of the credit has to be given to [Daniel's] parents because he is so grounded and well brought up," Malcolm said. "He's a genuinely nice guy."

According to British newspaper The Daily Mail, the pair have been an item for a year, with Rosanne dividing her time between her native Britain and New York, where Daniel has an apartment. (C) Cover Media
