Ranbir plays by the rule

9th September 2014

Gone are the days when actors took pride in replacing some big stars in a film and talk about it. Also it is history now that stars talked about the film which they couldn't be a part of.

The gen-x of Bollywood believes in doing the best and leaving the rest. And the perfect example to prove this point is of actor Ranbir Kapoor who is modest enough to not take away the limelight from the deserving.

There were rumours that director Zoya Akhtar had offered Ranbir and Kareena Kapoor Khan to play on-screen siblings in her film 'Dil Dhadakne Do'. But none of them could sign the film and the roles went to their contemporaries.

For reasons best known to Ranbir-Kareena and Zoya, the trio refused to talk about why the deal never saw the light of the day. And till date Ranbir has stood to his words as he claims that it is unfair to talk.

"So many actors are offered so many films, which are eventually done by other actors. And when other actors are doing those films, it’s not fair to speak about those projects," he said.

Some of his biggest hits like Rockstar (2011) and Barfi! (2012) were initially offered to other stars but it was he who starred in them but made much of the opportunities. "I think if an actor isn't a part of the film, it’s destiny," he added.

When asked why he prefers not to talk about it and what have been the reasons behind his refusals for offers, he states that he cannot put finger on one particular reason.

"Various factors are at play — sometimes you don't have the dates, sometimes the character doesn't work, sometimes you feel like you have already done a similar character before. So, I really wouldn’t like to say that I was offered Zoya’s film and that I refused it," he stated.

However, he does want to work with Zoya in future. "She is an extremely talented film-maker and I really want to work with her. I hope that happens in the future," he said.
