(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ryan Reynolds has officially filed for divorce from Scarlett Johansson.

The 34-year-old actor began the process of ending his two-year marriage on Thursday after filing papers at the Los Angeles Superior Court. Scarlett, 26, responded to the petition at the same time.

Both papers state the couple separated on December 14 and neither Scarlett nor Ryan is believed to be requesting spousal support.

The split came as somewhat of a surprise when it was announced earlier this month. No reason was given for the break up, but the pair insisted they are still on good terms.

They released a statement asking for privacy as they dealt with the separation. "After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we've decided to end our marriage," they said. "We entered our relationship with love and it's with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn't expected, it's certainly appreciated."

It has been reported Scarlett and Ryan who tied the knot in a secret ceremony in Canada in September 2008 - grew apart and their busy work schedules left them with little time to be together. (C) Cover Media
