Serena Williams: I love high heels

25th August 2010

(Cover) - EN Fashion - Serena Williams was “devastated” when she injured her foot earlier this year – because she had to stop wearing high heels.

The tennis star cut her foot shortly after winning the Wimbledon championship in July, and the injury has caused her to take a break from the sport and pull out of the US Open. Although she is upset to have to stop training, the famous fan of fashion revealed the injury has also impacted her life in other ways.

“When I get injured it’s devastating because I know I won’t be able to wear heels. I’m practically in tears,” she told SOBeFiT magazine.

Serena loves fashion, and is renowned for the unusual outfits she wears on court. She has also created ranges with Nike and Puma, and has her own line of clothing and accessories.

The 28-year-old has often spoken of her body issues, admitting she used to wish she looked for like her lean sister Venus. She has now revealed she is amazed she is a professional athlete at all, because exercising isn’t something she looks forward to.

“I’m the complete not-normal athlete, and I often wonder how I got into sports because I hate working out. I hate running. I hate all that stuff,” she laughed to the publication. “I love doing my nails, reading, going to the movies and wearing high heels – the higher the better actually.” (C) Cover Media
