September 4, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Shankar Roy is making a new film on Football; the film is titled 'Jug Jug Jiyo'. When asked about his reason for picking Football as a subject, Roy said that his film is unique from the rest of the football movies. Roy elaborated that his movie primarily deals with "player invention". The movie shows drunks, pick pockets and priests coming together to form a team for the love of the game.
The film is about two friends, played by Abhishek and Debdut Ghosh and it will have different take on the game altogether. The film will also deal with the inner politics of the popular game as well. The film has a glittering star cast of Abhishek Chatterjee, Debdut Ghosh, Prasun Raju, Rimjhim Mitra, raj among others. The director has also requested ex-footballer Subrata Bhattacharjee to be present on the sets so that he could coach the actors on the nuances of the game.
Subrata will play himself as the coach and the technical advisor of the onscreen team. The actors have been practicing to play their respective roles and it will surely reflect in the film as well. We wish all the best to the cast and crew of 'Jug Jug Jiyo'.
