Sarah Jessica Parker has been "very encouraging" to AnnaSophia Robb who is taking on the younger version of the character that she made famous.

AnnaSophia will play a youthful Carrie Bradshaw in the television prequel, The Carrie Diaries.

Sarah Jessica played the character in the hit show Sex and the City for six years and went on to star in two big screen films.

And AnnaSophia says that Sarah Jessica has been very gracious and even dropped her a note to wish her luck.

"She sent me a letter! I wrote her one back too," the 18-year-old told Us Weekly.

"She was just very encouraging about it all. It was really cool!"

AnnaSophia says she filmed her first episode this week but has been preparing for the debut for several months now.

"We've been doing a lot of rehearsals this week, and I've been watching the show and really trying to click with the character."

The starlet says that she is also ready for the inevitable comparisons with the popular series.

"I know everyone's going to compare it to Sex and the City, but we're never going to be that," she told the publication. "The show is more for my generation, but it's set in the 80s, so it's fun."
