(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sofia Vergara is reportedly worried to death about thyroid cancer returning.

The 40-year-old Modern Family actress-and-model suffered from the disease in 2000.

Although the malady is now in remission, Sofia is terrified about the prospect of having to deal with it again.

The star often suffers from anxiety attacks.

"She has to take breaks while filming the show and during modeling shoots," a source told Star magazine. "An attack will come out of nowhere."

Every three months Sofia visits her doctor to get her thyroid checked out.

The quarterly visits arouse dread in the actress.

"The closer it gets to stepping foot in her doctor's office, the more anxiety attacks she has," the insider explained.

Apparently Sofia had a three-inch scar after undergoing thyroid surgery years ago.

Although she has had laser treatments to reduce the mark, when she views her neck Sofia is said to experience harrowing flashbacks.

"Every time she looks in the mirror she worries about her cancer returning," the source said. (C) Cover Media
