The British stunt performer and television personality is best known for his stunts on the American TV series Jackass and accompanying movies.
The 37-year-old star has suffered with alcohol and drug additions throughout his life but entered rehab in 2008 after his co-star Johnny Knoxville became concerned he was a danger to himself.
Steve-O was part of Jackass 3D, the third instalment of the Jackass series, released in October 2010. The star has revealed that he left the cast to their own devices when it came to getting drunk after filming.
"[The cast] have never really hung out without a reason, except to get loaded," he told TheFix.com. "And I don't have any legit reason to be in a situation to watch those guys drink. The whole time we did that third movie, I never once did that."
Steve-O has penned a memoir Steve-O: Professional Idiot which is released this month. The professional stunt artist also launched a nine-month American stand up comedy tour. Steve-O says the road show will be less extreme than his previous pursuits with Jackass.
"[It doesn't require] having to hurt myself or do anything demeaning," he explained.
Steve-O and the rest of the Jackass cast and crew are currently mourning the loss of their co-star Ryan Dunn, who was killed in a car accident this week.
"I don't know what to say, except I love Ryan Dunn and I'm really going to miss him," Steve-O wrote on his Twitter page after his death. (C) Cover Media
