The Most Over-Hyped Bollywood Films Of 2010

31st December 2010

December 31, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Kites by Anurag Basu, takes away the title for the most hyped film of 2010. Made with a budget of Rs. 60 crore and oodles of controversies, the Hrithik Roshan, Barbara Mori starrer bombed at the box office. It was not just the language that created a barrier with the audience, but the story too lacked soul. The steamy scenes and the sexy dance moves of the leading pair could not save Kites from falling flat on the ground.

Second on the list is Mani Ratnams Rs. 100 crore magnum opus Raavan. For almost a year before the release of the movie, Raavan had been a favorite with the tabloids with news and updates. This film had high hopes riding on its back as it was Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchans next release with Mani Ratnam after the blockbuster Guru. But Junior Bachchan was not convincing enough as the 10 headed Raavan, and that was the major reason for the failure of this box office dud.

An underwater thriller, Blue, made with a budget of Rs. 100 crore was a total box office disaster. A weak script and not so impressive performances by its stars made this multi-starrer face box office blues. A.R. Rahmans music, Lara Duttas bikinis and a cameo by Katrina Kaif could not save this film from drowning.

The much awaited retro flick, Action Replayy, too failed to make much noise at the box office. Made with a budget of Rs. 22.50 crore, this Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer film lacked humor and drama.
