The Strokes: Our new album is cool

18th February 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - The Strokes say their new record is the coolest thing theyve heard for years.

The rock band comprises Julian Casablancas, Nick Valensi, Albert Hammond Jr., Nikolai Fraiture, and Fabrizio Moretti. Their eagerly-anticipated fourth album Angels is due out next month, with their previous record First Impressions of Earth released in 2006.

Taking a break from working together did cause problems with the group, as they began second guessing themselves while recording. However, they are now pleased with what theyve created and expect fans to like it too.

I dont think fans will be disappointed, said Albert. It sounds like a modern Strokes. Weve been doing this for ten years now and we all understand ourselves a bit better. This record is testament to our instinct and survival. F**k, its the coolest thing Ive heard in a long time.

Guitarist Albert thinks part of The Strokes appeal is their sometimes fraught relationships. The members occasionally fall out, but they always manage to work things out, which he thinks makes for great music.

Making this album had its moments of great frustration, he explained to Q. But there were also moments of utter joy. Thats The Strokes chemistry. For some reason when these five crazy motherf**kers come together with their frustrations it somehow manages to create something really unique that people groove on. Im really proud of this album, man. Its an explosion of wonderment. (C) Cover Media
