(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Thomas Ian Nicholas appreciates the "free, open experience" that comes with making American Reunion.
Thomas, who is famed for his portrayal of Kevin Myers in the comedy series, is reprising the role alongside co-stars such as Alyson Hannigan, Seann William Scott and Jason Biggs for the latest movie in the American Pie franchise, which is scheduled for release in 2012.
Directed by Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, who also wrote the script, Thomas really appreciates the laidback environment on set and the opportunity for improvisation.
"We came up with a funny bit when I was doing this scene with Seann [William Scott], who plays Stifler. It wasn't scripted this way, but he did one thing and then I had an idea on top of that, and we came up with this bit, and Jon and Hayden loved it. It's been a lot of fun. It's been a really free, open experience on the set," he smiled in an interview with Collider.
Thomas also discussed how amazed he has been by the success of the franchise. He admits that when shooting the first movie, 1999's American Pie, he had no idea how big it would become.
"Whenever I'm doing any film, I'm always just happy to have a job and I always just put 110% of myself into it. That's not really something that you think about. I don't think I've ever been one to take a job and be like, Well, this is going to be amazing!' because there's always three different things," he explained.
"There's the script, which is really just a blueprint. And then, you shoot the movie and it's an entirely different experience than you would expect from reading the script. And then, there's the whole post process and the editing, and it becomes something else entirely." (C) Cover Media
