August 14, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Walt Disney Pictures' released 2010 animated film Toy Story 3 has turned to be the highest earning animated movie of all times. Earlier, Shrek 2 was leading the line and now it has been pushed to the second position by the third movie of Toy Story.
Toy Story 3 earned over $ 920 million all over the world and thus became the fourth highest-grossing film of Disney. Lee Unkrich directed this animation movie, which was released in June, 2010 in the US. Within just two months of its release, the movie has made this record by beating Shrek 2, which earned $ 919 million globally in 2004.
In a statement, Rich Ross, the chairman of 'The Walt Disney Studios' stated that the success journey was made possible by the extremely creative and innovative team at Pixar, which was led by Ed Catmull and John Lasseter. He also attributed the success to their dedicated marketing and distribution teams across the world.
In 1995, the journey of first Toy Story started with the introduction of much adored characters like Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and Rex. The sequel of the movie followed in 1999.
