The Telugu film industry, popularly called as Tollywood, has successfully completed 80 glorious and eventful years.

According to statistics, in the eight decades, the industry produced about 5000 movies and many of them are blockbusters and classics, besides many trendsetting movies that redefined the history of south Indian cinema.

H M Reddy's Bhakta Prahlada was the first talkie movie made in Telugu (1931). Bhakta Prahlada was made with a budget of Rs 18,000 in 21 days.

Now with the changing trends and technology, Tollywood has equipped itself as one of the modern industries in the country and is ready to compete with international films too, one can say.
