Singanamala Ramesh Babu, who had produced films like 'Pokkiri', 'Nam Naadu' in Tamil and various films in Telugu, was taken into custody by the Andhra Pradesh police in Chennai recently, in connection with three fraud and cheating cases, in which he is among the accused.

According to reports, a financier, Vaijayanti Reddy, had approached the Central Crime Station (CCS) alleging that Ramesh took Rs. 18.02 crores and threatened her when she asked him repay the money.

Following this, a CID team took Singanamala Ramesh Babu into custody from Chennai and started questioning him. They also conducted a search at his premises and other places to find out any incriminating material and documents, the CID Additional Director General of Police S V Ramana Murthy said.
