A name that the world remembers in the cricket world is Sachin Tendulkar who has time and again credited his mentor and coach Ramakant Achrekar for his success. The coach who was behind the making of legend batsmen has passed away at his Mumbai residence at 6.30 PM yesterday.

Meanwhile, where all the sportmen paid their tributes, one Bollywood figure expressed grief to his demise. Perfectionist Aamir Khan tweeted, "My heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr Ramakant Achrekar, to Sachin,  and to all those close to him. We will always remember him with great fondness and respect for his contribution to Indian cricket. May his soul rest in peace."

Speaking on Achrekar's death, Tendulkar said in a statement: "Cricket in heaven will be enriched with the presence of Achrekar sir. Like many of his students, I learnt my ABCD of cricket under Sir's guidance. His contribution to my life cannot be captured in words. He built the foundation that I stand on. Last month, I met Sir along with some of his students and spent some time together. We shared a laugh as we remembered the old times."

Ramakant Achrekar coached many young players at Mumbai's Shivaji Park in Dadar. His most famous learner Tendulkar, went on to become the greatest batsman in the history of cricket. Apart from Sachin, Achrekar has also mentored former India cricketers Vinod Kambli, Ajit Agarkar, Ramesh Powar, Pravin Amre, and Chandrakant Pandit, among others. His contribution towards Mumbai and Indian Cricket team has been honoured with the Dhronacharya award in 1990 and the Padma Shri in 2010.
