September 9, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Bollywood superstar turned filmmaker Aamir Khan is ready to fly to Toronto to attend the screening of his wife Kiran Rao's directorial debut movie 'Dhobi Ghat'. The forthcoming Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) will screen the movie.
On his Facebook page, Aamir khan posted that he is prepared to leave for Toronto, where the first screening of his wife's movie 'Dhobi Ghat' will take place on September 10. He said too many nervous days are coming together.
The Toronto festival will take place from September 9 to 18. Aamir Khan is playing the lead role of a painter. The story of the film is set in Mumbai and it deals with mainly four people, who got separated by class and language but they are brought together in compelling relationships.
Young actor Pratiek Babbar, who is the son of veteran actor Raj Babbar and Smitha Patil, also plays a key role in the movie.
Cameron Bailey, co-director of the TIFF said that 'Dhobi Ghat' is a rare kind of movie coming out of Bollywood and the film is targeted to the global audience. It is a first Bollywood film with no song and dance in it and still going for a premiere to a world film festival.
The film is set in monsoon season of Mumbai. The movie revolves around the lives of Arun (played by Aamir Khan), washerboy Munna (essayed by Prateik Babbar) and Monica Dogra (NRI girl Shai).
