Ahmedabad created in Mumbai for SRK's 'Raees'

29th January 2015

Shah Rukh Khan will finally start shooting for Rahul Dholakia's 'Raees' in Mumbai. In order to avoid any further delays, the director decided to erect a massive replica of old Ahmedabad in Mumbai for shooting.

As the film is set in 80’s and many of the heritage sites are renovated, thus maker chose to recreate certain parts of Ahmedabad required for the movie in Mumbai.

He said, "The city has changed a lot since then and some of the old architecture is lost. The only way to get the old havelis with their intricate wood carving back is for our production designers, Anita Rajagopal and Daniel Reagan to create them here. Also, we have some action scenes which would be better to shoot on a closed set rather than on real locations."

An onlooker revealed that SRK was spotted on the sets few days ago. The set will be ready by March.

Speaking about SRK's leading lady Mahira Khan, he said, "It's not about an Indian, Pakistani or an American NRI but about an artisite who fits the role. Her personality is a perfect match for the role."
