Author, Shobha De faces protest but unmoved

10th April 2015

The celebrated author, Shobhaa De faces slap of Shiv Sena and the RPI protestors, for her latest tweet.

They claimed that the author insulted Maharashtrian culture. Protesters gathered near De's Cuffe Parade residence holding saffron flags and shouting slogans.

After govt. announced that marathi movies must be played in prime slot at multiplexes, she tweeted, "No more pop corn at multiplexes in Mumbai? Dahi misal and vada pav only. To go better with the Marathi movies at prime time."

This tweet of hers agitated few political groups and asked her to apologize for the same.

The author however, remained unfazed to the protest asserting that she would continue to speak in favor of her statement.

Meanwhile, the state government has shown its flexibility by placing norms that Marathi films can be screened between 12 noon to 9 pm depending on the demand of the producer to the exhibitor.
