A peace committee has been formed by directors to find an amicable solution to the ongoing tussle between producers and workers, which has halted the progress of many upcoming films.
The committee chaired by Lingusamy has names like Cheran, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Jayam Raja, Myshkin and A R Murugadoss among others. It will hold peace talks between Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) and Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI).
Members of FEFSI started an indefinite strike from Saturday after TFPC office bearers failed to attend the wage revision talks. In the meantime, producers have started a separate union for workers and went ahead with the shootings of few films.
While FEFSI managers alleged that producers were trying to threaten to workers, office bearers of TFPC said that FEFSI was involved in blackmail tactics. 'We are ready to understand the stand of workers. At the same time, they should also pay heed to the difficulties of workers,' said a member of TFPC.
