(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Felicity Huffman is planning on "opening supermarkets and gas stations" now the end of Desperate Housewives has been announced.
The actress is hectic supermom Lynette Scavo in the Golden Globe and Emmy-winning drama series, which has recently declared it will end next May after eight seasons.
The ABC-produced show, which also stars Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria and Marcia Cross, announced that the final series will be "a victory lap".
Felicity explained that executive producers George Perkins and Bob Daily came to the set on Friday and made an announcement to everyone and has joked that the end of the show marks a career change for her.
"You go into acting jail at the end of these things because it's hard for anyone to see you as anything other than Lynette Scavo or whatever it is. So I think it's unwise to look at the carnage around you of past television actresses and go, Well it's not going to happen to me,'" she told The Hollywood Reporter.
"It probably will, which is why I'm planning on opening supermarkets and gas stations."
Felicity says the reaction to the show's end was a strange one. The popular comedy-drama series' cast and crew are grateful for where it has taken their careers up to this point.
"Everyone was that odd combination of really sad and very sorry and, at the same time, very grateful," she said.
Meanwhile, Eva has taken to her personal Twitter page to thank fans for their support following the announcement. The stunning star is "so grateful" for what Desperate Housewives has done for her acting career.
"It's confirmed! We are filming our last season of Desperate Housewives! I am so grateful for what the show has given..." she wrote.
"Wow! thank u everyone for your beautiful comments! We have such amazing fans! Watch this final season, it is going to be the best one (sic)!!"
The show's creator Marc Cherry revealed the decision to end Desperate Housewives was a difficult one. He explained that he and ABC had "made this decision together".
"The only thing harder than creating a hit show is knowing when to end, especially when you have one of most amazing casts in the history of television," he told reporters. (C) Cover Media
