(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Giuliana Rancic says she was a "nervous wreck" when deciding whether to go public with her breast cancer diagnosis.

The 37-year-old television host revealed she was suffering with the disease yesterday on The Today Show but later said that she thought long and hard before telling everyone.

She spoke out on her show E! News last night and said she discussed the matter with her supportive husband, Apprentice winner Bill Rancic.

"I was going back and forth; should I do this, should I not do this? It's just so personal and I was like a nervous wreck," she shared.

Bill says that his wife of three years is stronger than he realised when he watched her making the announcement because Giuliana had been very tearful every time she said the word cancer.

"I think she was a lot stronger than I thought, because up until this morning any time she even said the word cancer she would start crying," Bill revealed.

"I think her goal was to send a message to all the young girls out there and I don't think it could have gone any better.

"I think out story has a happy ending. And that's the good thing. It's very treatable, it's 100 per cent treatable when you catch it early and that's the main message I think. You gotta get after this thing sooner rather than later."

Giuliana revealed that doctors discovered the tumour in her breast during a mammogram that her fertility doctor made her take before undergoing the third round of IVF treatment in the couple's bid to have a baby.

The television star said she wanted to encourage her young female viewers to get tested and give themselves self-exams. (C) Cover Media
