(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jason Segel says making the new Muppets film both excited and terrified him.
Jason is responsible for bringing Jim Henson's creatures back to the big screen for the first time since 1999. He co-wrote the film The Muppets and stars in it alongside Amy Adams.
Jason is a huge Muppets fan and is anxious about how other lovers of Kermit and the gang will react to the film.
"It was one of the most exciting days in my life when I sold that pitch," Jason told Total Film. "Followed by abject terror knowing that there are people out there who feel the same way about the Muppets as I do, that have such a reverence for them."
The Muppets, which will be released in November 2011, follows the famous group as they work to save their theatre from falling into the hands of an evil oil executive. The film will star all the old favourites including Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Gonzo and Fozzy, as well as lesser-known characters like Beaker and the Swedish Chef.
Jason said it was important for him to do justice to the work of Muppet creator Jim Henson.
"It harks back to the late 70s, early 80s," he said of the new film. "That's the Muppets we grew up with and the ones that I loved. So I think to some extent the surprise will be how faithful it is to the tone of that original." (C) Cover Media
